Home on Friday Night

So with Michael being in Toledo, Ohio another week, I am spending another Friday at home with the dogs and my computer. What does one do with this sort of time? You wash the dog of course! Seriously...I got home this evening, and the little boy just stunk it up! Near as I can tell, he climbed into the kitty box and rolled around. Okay, maybe not...but it sure smelled TERRIBLE!! So, the two of us climbed into the shower and began the cleaning process. If I had pictures of this, you would certainly laugh it up. We rinse...we lather...we rinse again. The entire time, he has this look on his face of "Awe Mom...do I really have to take a bath??". Then, we climb out...we shake...we dry...we shake...we dry...then we get out the blow dryer and dry some more. Topos never really dries completely in this manner because his hair is sooooo thick. However, it is fun to watch his reaction to the hair dryer...it's not fun in his opinion. I don't torture him in the end with bows in his hair or anything...he just gets mad because he can't go outside until he dries...Now he is lying on the floor...as flat as he can be...just looking at me...waiting...waiting...waiting....

Yuckies...

I went to bed last night at 10...I watched the clock...10:05...10:15...10:45...and so on all night long. I got out of bed around 5:30 from boredom. I left a message for Jeannine to let her know that I had not been to bed and that I was not feeling ALL THAT. I sat down in the chair and slept until about 8:30. Then, feeling a little better and thinking that sitting at home all day would not be that exciting, I headed in to work. I made it a total of 3.5 hours before I thought I was going to die. I came home and slept for the rest of the afternoon. I wish I could say better at this point in time...and I guess I do...but I still don't feel much like doing anything. I hope this goes away pretty soon. I HATE being sick...if I'm going to take a day off, I much prefer a 'well' day.

I'm going to try and get some food down the gut and see how it goes...7-Up is going down so far so good...

Motivation...

I spent this past weekend once again without my husband. If you have a hubby that stays at home with you all the time and you think that he is going to drive you completely crazy...just think of me in my lack-of-husband. You will appreciate him sooooo much more when he is there if he is gone...off my high horse and back to the story at hand...

Because he was gone, I went to ride Lady at Kent and Kim's. They had a few friends over for chicken noodle soup (if you have never had Kim's soup, you have never tasted heaven...). One of Kim's friends that was there is Lisa (short for something but I can't seem to remember right now). She is an artist...that's what she has the pleasure of spending her days doing. Kim and Lisa and I were sitting out in the garage hammering another nail in talking art. That got me to thinking..."You know...I haven't picked up a brush since I graduated from college." I got up early this morning and went to church and partook in communion (another thing I haven't done for a VERY loooooong time). When I got home, I was suddenly inspired. I started painting a picture of the lighthouse from our holiday vacation (see previous post). I have only completed the sky but the feeling I have right now is one of accomplishment and pride! I don't want to toot my own horn but I think it is looking awesome! I will share it when I finish it...hopefully life doesn't get too much in the way so I can...

Well, after a looooooooong day, I think I best head on to dreamland...or least go back to reading Cronicles of Narnia...

Happy New Year!!

I was able to spend the new year with my husband in Toledo Ohio. His company flew me out for the weekend. I must say, I couldn't have had a better time. We spent part of the eve at a sucky pool hall with crappy service. When we finally decided to blow that popsicle stand, we headed to Port Clinton to watch their claim to fame -Wiley Walleye being dropped from a giant tower. It isn't a real Walleye...just a giant replica. Believe it or not, we had a great time! It didn't matter what we did ~ as long as we were together! Sunday, we got up and drove 5 hours to Niagra Falls. My mom and her best friend just happen to be in the area visiting relatives out that way so we met them up at the falls. Very beautiful ~ but I hope we get to go back in warmer weather! Sunday, we just spent time together. It was short, but very enjoyable. I was depressed when I got home ~ I hope he gets to come home and spend some time with us soon!

One of our stops was in Marblehead, Ohio on a small penisula on Lake Erie. We went to the Marblehead lighthouse ~ my first lighthouse ever!

I really would love to return to the area to spend a little more time exploring. We were planning on taking a ferry across to Kelly Island. However, the ferry wasn't running due to 'gale-force' winds. That is never something you hear around the midwest!

Overall, a great time was had by all. The trip made me miss my husband even more. He is funny to talk to on the phone right now; he's been in the North since the middle of December and he is beginning to lose his Southern accent. I told him he needs to call his best friend's wife (who is from Arkansas) just to get it back!

Okay, I have finally gotten an evening where I can go to bed a little early so I think I am going to do just that!
